They’re baaaack.
Actually, they never left. They never do. They tend to slither in and out of sight, molting to transform their outward appearance but remaining quite unchanged where it counts. Unlike most pit vipers, this breed is disinclined to live and let live. You can’t just ignore it and expect it to go away. It won’t.
People affiliated with something called the Nationalist Coalition were out papering part of New Port Richey this week with flyers suggesting that George W. Bush’s misadventure in Iraq is really about Israel. This war is a dumb idea incompetently executed by arrogant ideologues. But a Zionist conspiracy? No.
The Nationalist Coalition, according to its website is “a new kind of white activism.” It’s about “pooling and coordinating all of our skills and resources towards a common self-evident cause; we promote whatever is good for our people, whatever strengthens our people, whatever increases the survivability of our people.” White people, of course. Others? Well, the Nationalist Coalition undoubtedly has a solution in mind.
Their site is designed to present a relatively benign face to the world, with photos of what could be a picnic or a community-involvement project, and video of kids singing, playing guitar and sharing. No matter how hard it tries, though, this beast can’t hide its fangs. All of its symbols and flags suggest the Ku Klux Klan or the Third Reich. All of its links lead down dark paths of religious intolerance and racial bigotry.
No, this isn’t a new kind of white activism at all. It’s the old kind, as repellant as a week-old corpse by the side of the road. It reeks of ignorance and fear.
As we said, this species requires attention. It doesn’t stop at flyers and creepy websites. In fact, it already has a real live candidate. Some cat named John Ubele, who washes windows for a living. He’s running for the State House of Representatives in District 46 against incumbent Rep. John Legg. Learn more about him here and heed the warning.
